Five Keys weekend program – Nelson, BC Jan 18-19 2014
NOTE: THE ORIGINAL DATES WILL STAY THE SAME FOR THIS PROGRAM (see below):
Greg Heffron MFA will teach The Five Keys to Mindful Communication weekend program at the Kooteney Shambhala Centre in Nelson, BC Canada January 18-19, 2014.
For those that haven’t visited the amazing mountain town of Nelson, BC, it’s an extraordinary village, tucked into the mountains of British Columbia. Full of fantastic local shops, hotels, restaurants and coffee houses and surrounded by natural beauty, Nelson is a jewel.
The Five Keys to Mindful Communication programs include short talks and dialogue practices, unique mindfulness practices, and Mudra Space Awareness exercises. Participants learn to identify natural wakefulness within communication, and how to practice when communication breaks down — including when we feel a profound lack of confidence in ourselves and others. Based on the principles of Contemplative Psychology, the Five Keys — 1) Silence 2) Encouragement 3) Gentle Clarity 4) Unconditional Friendliness and 5) Responsiveness/Play — transform fear-based reactions into powerful opportunities for self discovery. Practicing these skills together brings resilience to our relationships and opens our capacity to accept ourselves and others as we are.
To help spread her material, Susan Chapman has empowered Greg Heffron to teach this unique approach. Greg has been teaching with Susan since 2009, and finds her Mindful Communication material to be both practical and profound, built from the depth of the traditional Buddhist teachings (Five Buddha Families, etc), but usable immediately to those with no training (or even interest) in Buddhism.
Registration is not yet posted (as of Aug 2013), but will be soon at http://nelson.shambhala.org
