Relational Meditation: Bringing Mindfulness to Everyday Connection (and Disconnection)
Many of us cling to four basic mindless patterns around relationships which cause unnecessary suffering. Bringing mindfulness to our relationships guides us away from these misunderstandings and back to our genuine human connection. Along with the mindless patterns, we’ll explore The Four Seasons of Mindful Heart — four stages and four skill sets. These cycles and skills are part of every relationship — even the ‘relationship’ that happens in the space of a single conversation.
The program will include talks, skill-building exercises, small-group or partner discussion, an introduction to mindfulness meditation and mind-body explorations aimed at balancing heart and intellect. This material is not only for close relationships, and applies equally to the everyday conversations, including family, friends, work and community.
Based on the work presented in Acharya Susan Gillis Chapman’s The Five Keys to Mindful Communication, this workshop will present the basics of Chapman’s Mindful Communication to newcomers, as well as deepening the understanding of those familiar with the approach.
