We all encounter communication breakdowns. Throughout our days, there are painful moments when the communication between ourself and someone else breaks down. Many of us find this experience to be surprising, even experiencing fear when someone on the telephone doesn’t understand us clearly, our loved on stops listening, or our co-worker judges what we’re saying. In these moments, many of us have mindless habits which take us into harsh self-criticism. While this is painful enough, this can also lead us into even more destructive patterns of closing down our relationship with ourselves and those around us.
Returning to mindfulness in these moments is challenging, but also deeply transformational. Training to reverse our habits, we learn to bring mindfulness and kindness to ourselves, halting this negative cycle. Using techniques like mindful self-care, we rediscover our innate dignity, realism, warmth and intelligence.
In this workshop, through talks, unique models, meditations and gentle exercises, we’ll explore these challenging moments and how to reconnect—both with ourselves and others. We’ll cover what to do when communication with someone isn’t possible. And how to cultivate stronger connections using mindfulness as our guide.
