Greg Heffron will lead this five day “Deep Retreat,” facilitating participants to sink fully into the experience of making peace with themselves in the midst of challenging communication.
This program will include:
- twenty lectures on Susan Gillis Chapman’s unique Mindful Communication teachings, and how to apply them in complex situations in daily life.
- unique forms of mindfulness meditation focused on gaining familiarity with our communication patterns
- interactive group and partner exercises
- group discussions
- journaling exercises
- and other methods to bring Mindful Communication into our lives
The aim of this program is not just to absorb the models and perspectives offered by Mindful Communication, but to get the material ‘out of our heads’ and into our hearts and bodies. In a deep retreat like this, we can help make these concepts and skills second nature, which habituates us to open further with others, to take proper care of ourselves when wounded by communication, and to work with ourselves skillfully to reflect deeply when we do shut down. All of this helps us understand the open nature of human communication. It is this open nature that can help turn difficult situations in our families, work environments and communities around, leading us towards greater agency, effectiveness and warmth.
Registration hasn’t begun yet, but this link will be updated as soon as the program is listed on Karme Choling’s website.
